Hornbeam No.10: British-made cast iron for everyday cooking

From garlic prawns on the barbecue to a skillet supper in the kitchen, the Hornbeam No.10 Cast Iron Skillet gives you a versatile pan to reach for throughout the week. The smaller of Hornbeam's two skillets, the №10 suits everyday meals, smaller households and side dishes cooked alongside your main course.

Hornbeam No.10 Cast Iron Skillet

One solid casting, thoughtfully finished

The pan and handles are cast as a single piece of iron. There are no separate handle fixings to tighten, while the helper handle gives you a second lifting point when moving the skillet. Both handles become hot during cooking, so use suitable heat protection.

Made in England, each skillet is cast in Dorset before being machined, tumble-polished and pre-seasoned in Stockport. That combination of casting and finishing is central to Hornbeam's approach: durable cookware with a carefully prepared surface, ready to become part of your everyday cooking routine.

No synthetic coatings

Hornbeam uses seasoning rather than a synthetic non-stick coating. The pan arrives pre-seasoned, and its surface develops further with cooking and care. Good seasoning, appropriate heat and cooking fat work together to help food release; it is not a promise that every ingredient will slide out without oil or attention.

The golden colour of a new skillet will darken with use. This is a normal part of seasoning development and gives each pan its own appearance over time.

From the barbecue to the kitchen

Use the No.10 for mushrooms alongside steak, onions for burgers or a small sharing dish. A solid pan keeps ingredients and cooking juices together, making it particularly useful for foods that are awkward to cook directly on a barbecue grate.

Indoors, it works on all hob types, including induction, and in domestic ovens. Think beyond frying: try a baked dish, a crisp-edged side or a warm dessert served at the table on a suitable heatproof surface.

Choosing between the No.10 and No.12

The No.10 is the more compact choice. Compare its usable base with a pan you already cook with, allowing room between ingredients when searing. Choose the larger Hornbeam No.12 if you regularly need more space for family meals or sharing dishes.

For pizza oven use, check the opening and internal space against the full dimensions, including handles. Confirm suitability for your oven and cooking temperature before use.

Simple care for regular use

Wash by hand, dry thoroughly and wipe with a thin layer of oil before storage. Washing-up liquid is acceptable when needed; avoid the dishwasher and prolonged soaking. Allow the skillet to cool before cleaning rather than plunging a hot pan into cold water.

Lifetime casting guarantee and re-seasoning support

Hornbeam covers manufacturing defects in the casting with a lifetime guarantee. It also offers one free re-seasoning service per pan, subject to eligibility and terms. Customers pay postage to Hornbeam, with return postage covered for UK mainland addresses. Keep your proof of purchase. The casting guarantee excludes damage such as thermal shock, accidental impact and rust caused by neglect.
