Hornbeam No.12: a generous skillet for family meals

Make the skillet the centre of the meal with the Hornbeam No.12 Cast Iron Skillet. The larger pan in the Hornbeam range, the №12 gives you room for sharing dishes, family dinners and weekend cooking projects, whether you are firing up the barbecue or staying in the kitchen.

Hornbeam No.12 Cast Iron Skillet

British craftsmanship in one solid piece

Hornbeam casts the body and handles together, creating a single-piece pan without separate handle fixings. A helper handle opposite the main handle provides a second point of support when lifting. Use suitable heat protection: the handles heat up with the skillet.

The manufacturing takes place in England. Casting begins in Dorset, followed by machining, tumble-polishing and pre-seasoning in Stockport. The result is a substantial piece of cookware designed for repeated use and ongoing care.

A seasoned surface without synthetic coatings

The No.12 arrives pre-seasoned rather than covered in a synthetic non-stick coating. Seasoning develops as you cook, helping build a surface that releases food more readily when used with suitable heat and cooking fat.

Expect the original golden finish to become darker and change in appearance. This is part of using seasoned cast iron, rather than damage to a decorative finish. Your pan's appearance will reflect the meals you cook in it.

More room to build a meal

Use the No.12 for a colourful skillet of fajita vegetables, a generous side to accompany grilled meat or an oven-baked dish to share. Its solid surface keeps smaller ingredients and their juices together, extending what you can prepare on a barbecue.

The pan also works on all hob types, including induction, and in domestic ovens. That makes it useful well beyond outdoor entertaining: bring it into your regular cooking for family suppers and weekend baking.

Is the larger Hornbeam skillet right for you?

Choose the No.12 when you value extra cooking room. Allow space to turn ingredients and avoid overcrowding food that needs to brown. Consider the pan's weight with food added, along with the space available on your hob or barbecue. The Hornbeam No.10 is the alternative for smaller meals and more compact storage.

If buying for a pizza oven, measure the opening and usable cooking area, including room for the handles. Confirm compatibility and temperature guidance for your particular oven before use.

Keeping your skillet ready for the next cook

Hand-wash after use, dry completely and apply a light wipe of oil before putting the pan away. Soap can be used when needed. Avoid dishwashers, lengthy soaking and sudden cooling of a hot pan in cold water. Regular cooking and care help maintain the seasoning.

Manufacturer's lifetime casting guarantee

Hornbeam provides lifetime cover for manufacturing defects in the casting, subject to its terms. Thermal shock, accidental damage and rust from neglect are excluded. A one-time free re-seasoning service is also available under the manufacturer's terms: customers cover postage to Hornbeam, while UK mainland return postage is included. Retain your receipt for manufacturer support.
